I started my journey at University of Kansas majoring in Secondary English Education. After graduation in May 2009, I immediately went into my Masters Degree program. After completing my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, I worked for ten years in public education. As a teacher with ten years of experience working in public education, I learned to quickly adapt to changes, solve problems on the fly, and work well with my team. In my last years in the classroom I began teaching students, especially girls, to code. The more I worked with them and their new skills, the more I wanted to get into development myself. When the military moved my family to Guam, it was the perfect opportunity to make a career shift. I completed a six month Full Stack Development bootcamp and have been working on developing my skills and portfolio since graduation. I am currently a fellow at Formation, working on further developing my skills in Javascript, React, and algorithms.

I was selected for a highly-competitive Fellowship for personalized coaching from top-tier software engineers. I studied system design fundamentals in small groups led by senior engineers from top companies, comparing and contrasting concepts in modern web-based applications. The program includes intensive training to master computer science fundamentals through coding exercises through independent study, pair programming, and small mentor-led groups.

Health Services Full Stack Application

June 2022
  • Developed a Full Stack Application utilizing React, .Net, Javascript, HTML, and CSS
  • Application allows for creation, editing, and tracking of patient and visit information in hospital database. It includes a .Net API and a Javascript/React UI. I am unable to link to the code here as it is a final project for my bootcamp, but I would love the chance to share it with you one on one.
